but I haven't receive any emails and don't have a password to login.
What's happening?
? How do I add the Contra Coaching
email address to my email 'whitelist' so that the emails don't get caught
up in SPAM? What is a 'whitelist' anyway?
? I would like to sign up. Do I need
any special equipment to do Contra Coaching? For example would it be
worth my setting up SKYPE to keep call costs down ? I take it that most
coaching occurs on the phone?

Yes! In fact, they even count as ‘paid’
hours as you are receiving “compensation” for your coaching.
Your compensation for the coaching you give, is receiving coaching from
another coach.
How do I know what kind
of coach I'll get?
When you register for a Contra Coaching round, you fill
in a form that asks you questions about what kind of coach you'd prefer.
This includes information like experience, training, expertise, gender,
religion, location etc.
Can I choose my coach?
You can make requests for coaches before a round closes.
While requests are not guaranteed, in most cases if you submit multiple
requests, you'll usually get one of the coaches you prefer.
Do I coach and get
coached by the same person?
No. This would compromise coaching ethics. Contra Coaching
rounds are set up so that

If you have joined Contra Coaching and paid for membership
or pre-purchased Coaching Coins and still have not received an email
with your login details, first check your junk/spam folder. If the email
is not in there, you will need to contact the Contra Coaching Coordinator

How do I add Contra
Coaching to my email “whitelist”? What is a “whitelist”
anyway?
A “whitelist” is the opposite of a blacklist.
It gives permission for particular emails to enter your email inbox.
All anti-spam programs different. You could try adding the Contra Coaching
email address to your contacts. Unfortunately, we can’t write
our email address here because we’ll end up getting spammed to
high heaven, but if you don’t know it, you can contact us and
we’ll send you an email from our address. Sometimes in the configuration
of your anti-spam software, you can add email addresses or domain names
that are your approved senders.
I would like to sign up.
Do I need any special equipment to do Contra Coaching. For example would

Skype is often helpful, but not essential. You can often
request a coach from your country and if you come from Australia or
the US you’ll usually get one. Having said that, having a coach
from another country is usually a very rewarding and fun experience
and if you don’t have skype, you can buy a phone card from your
local 7/11 and get a one hour international call for less than the cost
of a cup of coffee.

If you have broadband/adsl then you download skype and
speak to your coach/client for free, if they also have skype. If they
don’t have skype, you can also make a call to their phone via
skype. In many cases, a one hour call to a first world country will
cost less than the cost of a cup of coffee.
If you can’t get skype, you can buy a phone card
from your local 7/11 and get a one hour international call for less
than the cost of a cup of coffee.
I want to join Contra
Coaching, but I don’t want a coach from another country.
In most cases, you can let your coordinator know about
this preference and if we know it’s really important to you, we
can usually make sure you get a coach from your country, especially
if you come from the US or Australia. Note however that preferences
are never guaranteed.
How can Contra Coaching
be so cheap? Will I end up getting cheap coaching too?
You will only ever receive coaching from coaches who
have coach specific training. In many cases, the coach you receive will
have as more or more experience than you and/or be accredited with a
recognised professional association, including ACCs, PCCs and MCCs.
Contra Coaching is very affordable because you are not actually paying
money for the coaching you receive (you pay for coaching sessions by
giving coaching sessions). Instead you are simply paying to be matched
with a coach and client, to have all your reciprocal relationships monitored
by a third party and for the system and website that is in place and
always being improved and developed to ensure that the Contra Coaching
Community can continue and thrive long into the future.
I thought it was free
for ICF and AC members to join Contra Coaching but when I signed up,
I was asked for payment?
ICF and AC members currently receive free annual membership.
This means, unlike all other coaches, they don't need to pay to belong
to the community, but only to participate in rounds. Because we had
a lot of ICF members joining and never participating, a compulsory pre-purchase
of two Coaching Coins (what you need to join a round of Contra Coaching)
upon joining to ensure that all Contra Coaches would be active. Thereafter,
ICF and AC members just need to participate in one round per year to
sustain their membership and free coins to pay for these rounds can
be earnt via the referral system, rather than bought.
What are Coaching Coins
and why do I need them?
Coaching Coins are the currency used in the Contra
Coaching Community. You need two Coaching Coins to join a Contra
Coaching round and one to join a Contra Mentoring round. A coaching
round gives you access to between four and twelve hours of coaching,
while one mentoring round delivers three hours of mentoring.
One Coaching Coin costs just:
Coaching Coins can also be used towards the purchase
of many Coach Web Kit services.
In some cases, Coach Web Kit
resources are free with Coaching Coins.
As a Contra Coach, you can also earn free Coaching
Coins by growing our community. Every new Contra Coach that identifies
you as their referral, lands a free Coaching Coin in your Contra Coaching
account.
